WHO IS LITTLE G WEEVIL?
Little G Weevil is the 29th International Blues Challenge Winner, 35th USA Blues Music Award Nominee , and 2X Blues Blast Music Award Nominee singer, songwriter, guitarist, lyricist, storyteller, and producer with nine highly acclaimed albums under his belt. His compositions are heavily influenced by southern blues sounds. G is a proud honorary lifetime membership recipient of the Atlanta Blues Society. Peavey endorses him .
Mark and I are good friends of G's. We met in the blues music scene in Atlanta and became great friends. We haven't seen G since 2017 when he moved back to Hungary. We are very excited to share this intimate listening room with all of our TVBS members. You don't want to miss this!!
Gabor Szucs was born in Budapest, Hungary, to parents of Jassic (Eastern Iranian) and Cuman (Turkic) Hungarian origin. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 27. He spent time in Birmingham, Alabama, but his music career took off on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, where he regularly performed at Blues City Cafe under the stage name Little G Weevil, "Hungarian blues artist with a Memphis flare. ”* His first solo recordings were produced in Memphis.
In 2006, he moved to London, England, for a couple of years, then relocated to the USA in 2009 and settled in the Atlanta, Georgia, metropolitan area. His second (The Teaser, 2012 ) and third (Moving, 2013 ) albums were recorded in Atlanta with local musicians. The Teaser ranked #10, and Moving ranked #3 Best Blues Album of the Year by the popular music magazine MOJO, published in the United Kingdom.
In 2013, Little G Weevil won the International Blues Challenge in the solo/duo category, representing the Atlanta Blues Society. He also received the Best Guitarist Award in his category. The IBC is the world's largest gathering of blues musicians, organised by the Blues Foundation.
Founded in Memphis, TN, in 1980, the Blues Foundation presents the National Blues Awards, which are generally recognised as the highest honour given to blues musicians and awarded by Blues Foundation members' vote. In 2014, Little G Weevil was nominated for the Blues Music Award as “Acoustic Artist of the Year.”
Between 2014 and 2024, Little G Weevil released several albums and took the message of southern blues, as he sees it, to more than 20 countries. He also appeared on Hungarian national television and was one of the judges of the popular X-Factor talent show in the fifth season. His latest release, ‘If I May… " reached #1 position on Roots Music Report’s Global Blues Radio Airplay Chart.
During his career he opened shows for legendary musicians such as Johnny Winter, Aaron Neville, Shemekia Copeland, Denise LaSalle, Otis Taylor, Lurrie Bell, Lightnin’ Malcolm, Tinsley Ellis, and had the honor sharing the stage with John Popper, Lee Oskar, Anson Funderburgh, Sam Myers, Cedric Burnside, Big Jack Johnson, Lonnie Shields, John Nemeth, Bob Margolin, Willie King, Ian Siegal, Ms. Zeno the Louisiana Mojo Queen, and many more.
