    WHO IS KENNY NEAL?

One of the strongest modern proponents of Baton Rouge swamp blues, Kenny Neal is a second generation southern Louisiana bluesman who is cognizant of the region’s venerable blues tradition and imaginative enough to steer it in fresh directions.

Neal was born on October 14, 1957 in New Orleans. His dad, harpist Raful Neal, was a Baton Rouge blues mainstay whose pals included Buddy Guy and Slim Harpo (the latter gave three year-old Kenny his first harmonica). At age 13, Neal was playing in his father’s band, and at 17, landed a job playing bass for Buddy Guy. The guitarist recruited some of his talented siblings to form the Neal Brothers Blues Band up in Toronto (brother Noel later played bass behind James Cotton; five other Neal brothers also play in various bands) before returning stateside.

In 1987, Kenny Neal cut his debut LP for Florida producer Bob Greenlee, an updated swamp feast initially released by Kingsnake Records as Bio on the Bayou. The following year, Alligator Records signed Neal and reissued the debut under the title Big News from Baton Rouge!! Young Neal was on his way. Neal’s sizzling guitar work, sturdy harp, and gravelly, aged-beyond-his-years vocals served him well, and he cut four albums for Alligator Records between 1989 and 1994.

An acclaimed 1991 stint on Broadway in a production of Mule Bone found him performing acoustic versions of Langston Hughes’ poetry set to music by Taj Mahal. In 1998, Neal moved from Alligator to the blues division of the jazz-based Telarc Records, releasing three albums for the label: Blues Fallin’ Down Like Rain (1998), What You Got (2000), and One Step Closer (2001). In the new millennium, Neal recorded sets for a variety of independent labels, including Easy Meeting (a 2003 collaboration with Billy Branch), Double Take (2004, a one-shot return to Alligator), and A Tribute to Slim Harpo and Raful Neal (released in 2005 for True Life Entertainment).

Three years later, Neal hooked up with Blind Pig Records and released Let Life Flow in 2008, once again incorporating his gritty Louisiana roots with a sophisticated Chicago/Memphis soul approach. A second Blind Pig release, Hooked on Your Love, appeared two years later in 2010. In 2015, Neal released his first holiday-themed album, I’ll Be Home for Christmas. It was his first album for Cleopatra Records, which also issued his latest critically acclaimed release, Bloodline in 2016. Kenny’s 2016 release, Bloodline, was nomimated for a 2017 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album and also won two 2017 BMAs (Blues Music Awards); one for Best Contemporary Blues Album and the other for Best Contemporary Male Blues Artist.

Kenny Neal, a true living blues Legend is THE REAL DEAL and more poised than ever to deliver the blues like no one else can.

    WHO IS GABE STILLMAN?

The Gabe Stillman Band hits the stage in high gear and only goes higher as they embrace all corners of American Roots Music with their impromptu selection of original gems and carefully chosen covers.

Since landing in the final 8 of the 35th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, and further honored as the recipient of the esteemed Gibson Guitar Award, Gabe and his band have been focused on expanding their footprint on a national and international level.

Based in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Gabe formed the band in 2015, shortly after graduating from Boston’s Berklee College of Music.

Gabe’s first self-produced release “The Grind” received wide acclaim. Gabe’s 2nd release, “Flying’ High” is backed by the legendary band, The Nighthawks. Gabe’s most current project, his first full-length release with 15 tracks and 13 originals, is on the Boston-based, Vizztone Record Label.  This robust project was guided by famed musician and producer Anson Funderburgh.

“Just Say the Word” has connected with radio, industry reviews, and the enthusiastic buying power of Stillman’s growing fanbase.  “Just Say the Word” reached #5 on the Roots Music Radio chart along with three charted singles.  Fan support is evident with “Just Say the Word” debuting at #10 on the Billboard Blues Chart.  Release reviews are strong as evident and consistent with this recent review from Jim Hynes and Making A Scene… “[Just Say The Word], is a brilliant, auspicious debut from one who has the complete package. Gabe Stillman’s future is bright.” - Jim Hynes, Making a Scene.

Industry professionals have taken notice as evidenced by Gabe’s invitation to support ZZ Top at the famed Key West Amphitheater, as a Blues Music Award nominee in the Best New Emerging Artist Album category, and in March The Gabe Stillman Band was further honored by the 3rd Annual Central PA Music Awards, selected as the “Best Blues Band”.

“Gabe is somebody who has it all.  His songs move me, he has a way with words.  He is an amazing singer, a great songwriter, and a wonderful musician.”  - Anson Funderburgh, Producer

“One of the most promising young blues talents on the scene today. He’s a fine songwriter, excellent guitarist, and strong singer, plus he puts on an exciting, energized show. His talent has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple years. Don’t miss him!” - Bruce Iglauer, Founder and President, Alligator Records.

“Gabe Stillman has got the chops and the intensity the Blues should have. Keep your eye on him!” - Toronzo Cannon, Alligator Recording Artist

    WHO IS ERIC JOHANSON?

Eric Johanson is not your typical rock or blues artist. His music strikes a compelling balance between gritty rock intensity and deep blues emotion, delivering a sound that feels both raw and refreshingly original. Johanson's skillful guitar playing and distinctive voice form a captivating blend that is drawing increasing attention from audiences and critics alike.

His newest album, The Deep And The Dirty (2023), continues to make waves, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart. Since its release, Johanson has been on a whirlwind tour, hitting stages across the US and Europe in over ten countries. The buzz around him is real—he was named one of Guitar Player magazine’s 25 best new blues guitarists and earned a spot in Total Guitar magazine’s Top 50 blues guitarists of all time. Industry veterans have also taken notice, with Bob Lefsetz remarking, “It’s like he digested all the music of the sixties - just like those musicians listened to the progenitors - and kept the flame a-burnin’. This guy has a place in the firmament.”

Born and raised in Louisiana, Johanson’s roots run deep in the blues and rock traditions. His early years were spent performing at local venues and leading underground rock bands. After experimenting with his style, and a stint living overseas, Johanson returned to New Orleans and quickly became a sought after guitarist, blending his southern roots with a forward-thinking approach.

It wasn’t long before his unique style caught the eye of blues luminary Tab Benoit. Benoit signed Johanson to his new Whiskey Bayou record label, producing Johanson’s debut solo record, Burn It Down (2017). The album established Johanson as a skilled guitarist with a deep connection to blues traditions, yet also someone unafraid to push boundaries. The two embarked on a two-year tour, with Benoit himself playing drums in Johanson’s band during his opening sets.

Johanson’s sound soon gained the attention of Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), who produced Johanson’s sophomore album, Below Sea Level (2020). The album marked a creative leap for Johanson, combining raw, emotional songwriting with heavier guitar tones and darker, more introspective themes.

For his most recent album, The Deep And The Dirty, Johanson teamed up with producer Jesse Dayton, crafting what many critics are calling his strongest work yet. The album’s raw, powerful sound and masterful guitar playing are further illuminated by meaningful and catchy songwriting. As American Songwriter put it, “Johanson pens solid material that, like Hendrix, displays his guitar prowess but within the borders of melodies and lyrics that push the boundaries of blues/rock.”

Over the past few years, Johanson has toured extensively, both as a headliner and support act for prominent artists such as Samantha Fish, North Mississippi Allstars, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, The Record Company, Walter Trout, and more. His live performances are known for their high energy, powerful vocals, and dynamic guitar solos. There’s a sense that Eric is always pushing himself—redefining what it means to be a blues artist in the 21st century.

    Press Quotes

    The Deep And The Dirty:

“Johanson pens solid material that, like Hendrix, displays his guitar prowess but within the borders of melodies and lyrics that push the boundaries of blues/rock. Based on his eclectic style, searing guitar work, and persuasive songwriting he delivers a driving collection well worth choosing.” - American Songwriter

“The Deep And The Dirty is a remarkable blues rock album whose main strength lies in inspired six-string pyrotechnics, even within a mostly song-driven framework. Combining modern heavy blues rock with more roots-oriented moments, the record should appeal to blues rock fans and guitar enthusiasts of all backgrounds.” - Blues Rock Review
